Local solution for new Ambulance Centre

After years of relying on the Ambulance services from Taree, located 16k west, a new Ambulance Centre was designed for the coastal town of Old Bar, which is a popular tourist destination located on the northern coast of NSW.

In late 2022, Premier Steel was contacted by A W Edwards Port Macquarie office to design a Truedek Steel Deck for the proposed Centre, located on the main road into Old Bar.

Due to the sloping site and building design that included offices, mechanical areas and wash-bays for the ambulances, the building had to be elevated, so Truedek was selected for the suspended slab.

The final design by M+G Consulting Engineers was for Truedek TD140 panels and Infill to be installed on piers, with unpropped spans of between 4m and 6.4m, in both full Truss and Truss/Pan/Truss configurations as the most cost-effective solution for the building.

The majority of the 610m2 building slab was specified by the Engineers as a voided option, enabling a concrete saving of up to 30%.
