Carpark and Ramp slab at Manly Wharfside

Novati Constructions is a highly respected Tier 2 Construction Company based at Crows Nest in Sydney and in 2019 was commissioned to build a 6 storey mixed use development called ‘Wharfside Manly’, 150 metres from the harbour foreshore in the heart of Manly in Sydney.

The building included the Manly Civic Club on the Ground Floor with 38 luxury residential units and was designed with two levels of underground carpark, including a car stacker. The work commenced with a 9 metre deep excavation, which was 5 metres under the water table and required massive pumping equipment running 24/7 for the duration of the pre-construction phase until the CSM shoring walls and sub structure of the entire building was in place to displace the surrounding ground water ingress.

A second internal slab for the carpark and ramps was designed to sit on small 300mm-400mm Dincel support walls. With widths spanning from 3m to 6.8m and back propping not possible, Truedek was the perfect steel decking solution for the job.

Working from a layout plan, the packs of colour-coded Truedek panels were positioned near their respective grid areas and lifted into place, making the installation fast and very efficient.

Truedek TD140 panels were used in a full Truss configuration for the larger span areas and an alternative Truss/Pan/Truss configuration was designed for the shorter spans for the 200mm slab. The driveway slab thickness was 240mm and parking areas were 200mm.
