Truedek on Par for Manly Golf Club Building

After years of planning the Board of Manly Golf Club made the decision to design and build a new Course Maintenance Facility Building to provide mechanic and storage space and house new and existing machinery.

To avoid future flood damage, the new building was planned to be elevated 1200mm above ground level on a suspended concrete slab.

Located on the corner of Kenneth and Balgowlah Roads, the proposed building designed by Leffler Simes Architects, was 58 metres long and 18 metres wide, an area of approximately 1050m2.

Access to the site was very restricted and difficult to prop, so M+G Consulting Engineers chose Truedek Steel Decking for the suspended slab due to its long-spanning unpropped capability.

The front 3.3m dock area of the building was installed using a Truss/Pan/Truss (T/P/T) configuration with the main building areas designed in 3 bays of 5.4m, 4.7m and 5.1m spanning lengthwise in a full Truss (T/T/T) configuration.

Truedek TD140 voided panels were designed for the 250mm slab, with the voided option meaning a saving of up to 30% in concrete volume. Further savings were possible due to the long spans, reducing the number of footings and supporting beams required.

The Construction was completed by award winning builder, Carfax Commercial Constructions.
