A large home renovation at Warriewood on Sydney’s Northern Beaches was redesigned to include a four car garage and workshop area underneath. With difficult access and a sloping block, this created a number of issues for the builder, Brad Taylor, Managing Director of BNT Constructions.

“We had a limited time to complete the project and the only place to store materials was where the garage was going, so getting the floor concreted and being able to work underneath almost immediately due to Truedek not requiring any propping, was a major bonus. The Truedek trusses we used did a fantastic job and saved us a lot of time and effort, so we were able to move onto other areas of the job more quickly.”

Brad used TD140mm high TRUEDEK trusses and most lengths were 6.0m, covering an area approximately 110 sq m.

“One problem was an area that had a 1.2m cantilever on 7.2m panels, so keeping the rest of the floor level with the weight of the concrete being poured on the other side was a challenge, a bit like a liquid see-saw, but by balancing up the pour, we got it done and with the pre-camber built into the trusses, there was no deflection - it was brilliant. The ceiling underneath stayed perfectly flat without us having to use any back propping. It saved us hours and with days of wet weather that followed, allowed us to have a huge storage area for our material without having to move a thing. It was a great solution for the job and I would happily recommend TRUEDEK Decking to anyone”
