]]> From the outset the construction of the elevated driveway and in-bound goods unloading area was going to create a number of engineering problems. At its highest point the concrete slab is 15 metres from ground level. The team at Northrop Consulting Engineers in Wollongong came up with the solution for the builder, Edwards Constructions, by designing a structural steel framework supported on concrete foundation columns. Utilising Truedek® TD110 panels spanning up to 5 metres the number of foundation columns required and the structural steel needed was reduced and simplified.

Approximately 800 Truedek® panels were installed on the job. These panels where manufactured with a pre-camber so that a flat soffit was achieved after the wet concrete has been poured.

The required slab thickness varied between 275 – 325mm. 100mm slump was ordered which assists the flow of concrete into the TRUEDEK® panels during vibration. The project required the concrete to be 40 MPa and the approximate 1000m2 was poured in 4 sections.

Using TRUEDEK® on this project also facilitated the strict safety requirements that a project like this requires.
